Presentation & Poster Guidelines

Oral Presenters

  • Presenters must be registered for the 24th SMLTSA Congress (24–26 Oct 2025, Protea Hotel Stellenbosch). For assistance email sonja@scconferences.com.
  • 15–20 mins presentation + 5 mins Q&A + 5 mins transition. Please keep to time.
  • Remain for the full session in which you are scheduled.
  • First slide = Conference Bio slide (download link available).
  • Use PowerPoint (template provided, or your own). Max 15 slides, clear and concise.
  • Videos discouraged. If used, embed clips and also submit as .MP4 files.
  • Submit via WeTransfer.com to congress@smltsa.org.za by 17 Oct 2025.
  • Bring a backup copy on laptop or memory stick.

Poster Presenters

  • Posters must be mounted on:
    • 23 Oct (15:00–17:00) OR
    • 24 Oct (07:00–08:30).
  • Send an electronic version via WeTransfer.com by 17 Oct 2025.
  • Posters on display throughout congress. Poster Session: 24 Oct, 14:00–15:30 (all presenters must be present).
  • Remove posters by 26 Oct, 14:00.
  • Specs: A0 (841 × 1189mm), max 960 × 1200mmportrait, bold title/author, readable from 2m.
  • Cancellation deadline: 3 Oct – email congress@smltsa.org.za if unable to present.

Instructions to Authors:

Please adhere to these guidelines when making your submission

1. Each abstract must clearly state the following:

  • Abstract title
  • Name and list of author(s)
  • The name of the presenting author must appear first in the list of authors and be underlined
  • Affiliations of the author(s)
  • Contact details of first presenting author (telephone numbers, e-mail address, etc.)
  • The preferred format of presentation: Paper or poster presentation.
  • Abstracts must be written in English; abbreviations should be explained on first use.
  • The body of the text must not exceed 300 words (this is excluding the information listed in point (1)

2. The abstract must adhere to the following format:

  • Introduction: should be brief and informative and state the aim of the study;
  • Methods: include a description of participants, research methodology including data analysis methods
  • Results: outline the main findings of the study supported by data as appropriate. Do not use figures, graphs or tables in the abstract. The data provided must be sufficient to permit peer review of the abstract;
  • Conclusion: relevance of the main findings.

3. Preference will be given to abstracts that have not been presented at previous national or international conferences.

4. To avoid copyright issues, abstracts must not have been previously published in any journal.

5. Abstracts will be peer reviewed for scientific merit and participants will be informed of the result.

6. All accepted abstracts will be published in the congress programme without further editing. Abstracts that do not adhere to the specified format cannot be included in the collection.
